One Community
EMR’s Tilbury sites, based on Station Road and Tilbury Dock, have offered continued support to local charity One Community.
One Community, which EMR’s Tilbury sites have supported since 2019, is a development trust created by the community of Tilbury and Chadwell, along with voluntary groups. The trust’s vision is ‘to inspire and support local people to work activity together to achieve the best for themselves and the community’, with the overall aim of creating a place where residents can be proud to live and work.
EMR has donated £8,000 in a partnership created as part of the metal recycler’s Young Futures Reimagined programme, an initiative that aims to help young people across the country to build bright futures. This donation will enable eight young people between the ages of 18-25 to access One Community’s Volunteer Investment Programme (VIP). This gives those struggling to find employment access to voluntary experience; whist supporting them with CV writing and job applications.
“Going into the world of work can be quite daunting for many of our young people, this programme enabled us to provide work experience that was meaningful and relevant to our young people, giving them direction and insight in to making more informed decisions about their future - raising their aspirations and relinquishing some of those anxieties.”
