Blaydon Youth and Community Centre CIO
Blaydon YCC provides a safe and inclusive space for the community to socialise, learn, and keep fit and healthy.
They aim to help young people to meet their full potential when it comes to their aspiration, resilience, and opportunities to develop their skills and confidence, by offering activities such as multi-sports, cooking, bushcraft, first-aid, art and social action projects.
Many of the centre’s members are from the most disadvantaged areas in Gateshead, including young people, the elderly, disabled and families with children who are experiencing financial hardship.
Following the Building Brighter Futures donation, Blaydon YCC will be able to expand the delivery of its successful youth holiday programme. The new funding will support the launch of a year-round (40 weeks) youth club for 11 to 17 year olds, offering a diverse range of activities and opportunities that promote social, personal, emotional and educational development.
