Brighter futures on the horizon for young people across the UK as new Community Fund launches

At the heart of communities there are young people with the potential to achieve amazing things – but only if the opportunities are available to them. A new Fund has been unveiled to ignite dreams, open doors and show young people that they have the power to design their own future.

By partnering with charities that share the same belief, the newly launched fund will provide essential resources and financial support to local projects that are already working tirelessly to empower young people, giving them the boost they need to maximise their impact and expand their reach.

Delivered by local Community Foundations and managed directly by Cheshire Community Foundation, the Fund awards grants to local charities that are offering employment, education or health and social care opportunities to young people.

The Building Brighter Futures Fund launched with a £214,000 donation from EMR and has already supported 12 charities in the North East, North West, West Midlands and London.

Mel Sproston, CEO at Cheshire Community Foundation (CCF), commented:

“We’re delighted to be working in partnership with EMR, and our colleagues in other regions, to help young people across the country overcome challenges and create better opportunities for all.“Community Foundations are deeply connected to the communities we serve - the Building Brighter Futures Fund will enable us to support many more charitable programmes and groups seeking to help the younger generation to escape the poverty cycle. We look forward to extending the programme to more regional partners in future.”

As a global leader in sustainable materials, with more than 60 sites in the UK, EMR aims to make positive impact in communities through lasting social change, by supporting initiatives that uplift local people and empower young people to build a brighter future.

Ian Sheppard, Managing Director at EMR, added: “We firmly believe in supporting and empowering local communities, and EMR has a longstanding commitment to helping young people in areas where resources can be limited. We’re proud to be able to launch the Building Brighter Futures Fund which will support vital programmes that help to make a real difference to the future generation in many communities across the UK.

“Partnering with Community Foundations to deliver this funding, enables us to reach more young people in need, and support lasting, positive social change.”

As Cheshire Community Foundation and EMR join forces, they invite the community, businesses, and individuals alike to rally behind this crucial initiative. Together, we can create a brighter, future where opportunity can flourish for all.
